Fear

First off, what is classified as "fear"?
Fear is widely viewed as an emotional response to threat and danger. A brief scientific and practical explanation would be that fear is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a stimulus such as pain or the threat of pain.

But is that all? At least I think that a deeper and more profound meaning is behind the concept of fear. Let's start off from the most basic fear - ghosts. Ghost stories have been circling and passed on for generations. But why are they so scary? Why do they evoke such a sense of fear in humans? One could dismiss this and blame this on film and media depiction of ghosts as malevolent entities. However, I think that the fear of ghosts is because of their general abnormality and because they do not know what will become of them - what the ghost will do - whether it is a friendly or malicious spirit.
Another general fear is the fear of the dark - in other words, the fear of not knowing what is around yourself, the ignorance of your surroundings.
So fear, is fear of ignorance. We fear whatever we are ignorant of, and that is why Knowledge is Power, and since no human being can ever posess absolute knowledge because the nature of our universe changes with time, all humans share this one thing in common - Fear.

Knowledge IS power, but the power of knowledge does not completely eradicate fear.

There are instances when we are afraid of something because we know exactly what will happen.

Ignorance is something we all do fear though.

Well fear is not necessarily ignorance... You could be fearful because you are too knowledgeable.

Imagine being able to predict the end of your life, or the end of the world... that would make you pretty fearful wouldn't it?

You would be happier in a desert not knowing that there is a poisonous insect, or you'd be happier in a house if you didn't know that someone was killed in it...

What do you think?

Yes, but no one can ever be sure of the future.
